Adam Somlai-Fischer

Adam Somlai-Fischer is interested in the cultural qualities of new technologies, which he explores by creating installations and experiments that blend spaces, technologies, and interactivity. Adam collaborates with designers, artists, and engineers to create projects that fuse disciplines and cultures. Among his projects are Reconfigurable House and Reorient, spaces made of thousands of electronic toys; Aleph, an outdoor display built from kinetic mirrors; Wifi Camera, a DIY camera taking pictures of the Wifi landscape; Ping Genius Loci, an outdoor field of analogue pixels; Brainmirror, a mixed reality experience presenting MRI through a mirror; Low Tech Sensors and Actuators workshop and handbook; and Induction house, a set of experiments for spatial projections.
Somlai-Fischer's projects were shown at the Venice Biennale of Architecture (2004, 2006, 2008); China International New Media Arts Exhibition (2008); NTT ICC, Tokyo, Japan; ISEA 2004, Helsinki, Finland; ISEA/01 2006, San Jose, USA; Ars Electronica, Linz, Austria (2006); Kiasma Museum, Helsinki, and Ludwig Museum, Budapest.
